Anti-Ragging Cell

As per UGC regulations, the Anti-Ragging Committee (ARC) is a mandatory body headed by the head of the institution, including faculty, parents, students (freshers & seniors), and staff, responsible for monitoring, preventing, and punishing ragging. It acts on Anti-Ragging Squad reports to ensure a zero-tolerance campus environment.

Objectives

The cell works to prevent any act of:

  • Any act of physical abuse.
  • Any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, posts or public insults.
  • Indulging in rowdy or indiscipline activities.
  • Disrupting the regular academic activity.
  • To prohibit, prevent and eliminate any conduct by any student or students towards another student or fresher.
  • Whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness.
  • Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a fresher or any other student by students.
  • To provide for the healthy development, physically and psychologically, of all students.
  • Causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority.
  • Exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for completing the academic tasks assigned to an individual or a group of students

Functions

  • To ensure compliance with the provisions of Anti-Ragging Regulations as well as the provisions of any law for the time being in force concerning ragging.
  • To conduct enquiry in case of ragging and submit report along with recommendations for action.
  • Take an appropriate decision, with regard to punishment or otherwise, depending on the facts of each incident of ragging and nature and gravity of the incident of ragging.
  • To make the students in particular aware of the legal provisions relating to ragging through Seminars and Awareness Programmes.
  • To organize professional counseling sessions at the time of admissions to counsel ‘freshers’ to ensure balanced psychological development.
  • To launch wide publicity campaigns and rallies of the dehumanizing effect of ragging against ragging through information booklets, street plays etc.
  • To publicize anti-ragging measures by prominently displaying Posters saying “No ragging” on the Notice Boards in the campus.

Punishment Provisions

Any student or group of students found guilty of ragging on campus or off campus shall be liable to one or more of the following punishments:

  • Debarring from appearing in any sessional test/ university examination or withholding results.
  • Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
  • Withdrawing scholarships and other benefits.
  • Suspension from the college for a period of one month Cancellation of admission
  • Cancellation of admission.
  • Suspension/expulsion from the hostel.
  • Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution.
  • Collective punishment as a deterrent.

Anti-Ragging Measures

SUBMISSION OF AFFIDAVITS BY THE STUDENTS / PARENT / GUARDIAN

As per the latest policy all students and parent/guardians are required to submit affidavits before a student is allowed registration in the institute at the time of admission.
